MAICAT® The Original Salt-Free Water Conditioning Resin

MAICAT SALTFREE® is a Salt-Free Water Conditioning Resin that offers unique limescale protection to the surfaces of pipes, heat exchangers or other appliances that use water, all without altering the water's calcium and magnesium content. Unlike ion-exchangers that replace beneficial calcium and magnesium with salt, MAICAT® preserves these important minerals in a form that can be easily absorbed by the human body.

Our Seed Crystallization technology works according to the principle of Seed Crystal formation, an eco-friendly, chemical-free process that doesn't require electricity or drainage. Microscopically small Calcite and Portlandite Seed Crystals are anchored on the rough surface of our specially developed granule, influencing and altering the interaction between the soluble calcium and magnesium ions of the water.

As water flows through MAICAT®, the soluble calcium and magnesium ions convert into microscopic calcium carbonate crystals and adhere to the MAICAT® granules. The excess load of the newly formed crystals adhered on the MAICAT® granule is detached and carried away by the water flow throughout the system leaving behind the unaffected MAICAT® resin.

While traveling through the system, the detached calcium carbonate crystals continue to attract any pre-existing limescale crystals resulting in eventually cleaning the appliances and unclogging pipes.

While the measurable hardness of the water remains unchanged, a softer scale is formed that can easily be wiped off as it has become unable to adhere to any surface. This technology addresses issues like buildup on dishes and fixtures, clogged pipes, reduced water pressure and flow, decreased heat efficiency, and increased power consumption. 

MAICAT® can be combined with sediment and carbon filters and has a life expectancy of about 7-10 years with average water use. Proper sizing and flow are crucial for maximum effectiveness, ensuring optimal contact between water and the MAICAT® resin surface.
